According to the complaint, the nurse's horrifying statement was said about three weeks ago to a cancer patient who has been treated for about a year and a half at the oncology institute.

On the last second day, the patient's daughter slapped a reminder of this in the nurse's face, after an unusual confrontation developed between the nurse and the patient and her daughter.

The neglect in the oncology department at Wolfson Hospital

As a reminder, Israel Hayom recently published a series of revelations indicating problematic conduct in the oncology department at the hospital.

In recent months, a particularly extreme crisis has occurred at the oncology institute in Holon after all the ward's nurses abandoned their jobs without prior notice, due to allegations about the attitude of the ward's director, Dr. Ronan Brenner. At the same time, serious allegations were made that the hospital's director, Dr. Anat Engel , and the management team of the Ministry of Health have been consistently ignoring warnings and serious complaints for severe damage to the medical treatment of cancer patients for months now.

The institute treats about 8,000 cancer patients a year.

Screams inside the hospital

The new complaint to the Ministry of Health about the nurse at the oncology institute was written by Nitzan Sitbon, who accompanied her mother Toni Hachmon, a cancer patient being treated at Wolfson, on Monday last week.

According to the complaint, she turned to a nurse at the institute who took a blood sample for her mother for the laboratory, and asked her to also perform the "marker" test, which checks the degree of progression of the disease, as part of the tests.

However, according to the complaint, the nurse asked her to directly contact Dr. Brenner, the director of the institute, claiming that "I have no communication with the doctor." Sitbon realized that Dr. Brenner was in a meeting in his room with other patients, and addressed another nurse at the institute with the same request.

This nurse also replied: "We have no communication with the doctor."

However, according to the complaint, "surprised by the identical answer of the two nurses, I approached the first nurse again and told her in pleading terms that I am asking her to get permission for the test, which is very important for us, especially when the test was not taken even in the previous treatment."

unusual claims.

Nitzan Sitbon and her mother Toni Hachmon,

According to the complaint, "Then the nurse started yelling at me that 'she is not preparing to go to the doctor', that 'she has no communication with the doctor' and that 'this is my problem,' and an exchange began. When I emphasized to her that this was her job, she slapped me that she does not work for me and I intend to talk to the doctor. The conversation was loud shouts from both sides and a gathering of patients began.

At the height of the argument, when she emphasizes how important the patients are to her, I threw in her face what we keep in our stomachs for about three weeks, when in a conversation she had with my mother about three weeks ago she told me, and I quote: 'For my part, let all the patients die.'"

"ego wars"

According to the complaint, "From that point on, the nurse started screaming like a madman, they had to block her from reaching me. She approached my mother, who was confined to a wheelchair, and screamed at her: 'You're a liar,' while people grabbed her so she wouldn't do anything. At the end of the event, security personnel arrived, talked With the nurse and with the nurse in charge of the institute, who at no point tried to calm the situation. Even before that, Dr. Brenner told me: 'No one contacted me on the subject', and 'What a problem with communication, I've been answering their questions since morning.'

Attorney Eitan Glick, who represents dozens of the institute's patients, told Israel Hayom: "The patients are being eroded by the personal ego wars of the hospital director against the director of the oncology institute, and I call on the director to solve the severe service problems that exist in the department.

The event in question is just one of many that happen every day, and the ones who pay the heaviest price are the patients.

It's time for the hospital management to go beyond giving casual answers, and solve the problems immediately."

The Ministry of Health stated in response that "The Ministry is doing everything possible to allow patients to receive safe medical treatment. Retired judge Hila Gerstel was appointed as a mediator, in order to regulate the relationship between the management of the medical center, the director of the oncology institute and the nursing staff at the institute, for the benefit of the patients.

"Ensuring the continuity of care, its quality and safety is constantly in front of our eyes. The head of the government medical centers division in the ministry, Dr. Dodo Dagan, and other officials from the Ministry of Health, are in contact with patients and family members.

The Ministry of Health will continue to address the issue until it is fully resolved.

The office is investigating the incident in question.

Statements that belittle the lives of patients are not acceptable to the office, and if they did happen, this is improper and deserves all condemnation."

The Federation of Brothers and Sisters stated: "From an investigation we carried out, this is a false complaint, and the things attributed to the oncology nurse were never said by her. This is a professional and dedicated nurse whose whole essence is to treat cancer patients. At the same time, the incident testifies to the impossible situation in which the oncology nurses at Wolfson found themselves unwillingly , the patients and their family members. The Brothers and Sisters Association will work to create a safe environment for the oncology nurses at Wolfson, which allows them to provide adequate care for cancer patients, as it has been until today. This is the mission they have chosen and all they want is to continue to give patients the best care. We are sure that all of us There is the same important goal, which is to provide optimal care to patients."

The Wolfson Hospital said on behalf of the nurses of the Oncology Institute that "the incident did not happen and was not created, and is strongly denied by the nurse. According to the nurses, this is a collection of false accusations, as part of Dr. Ronan Brenner's campaign against the dedicated nurses.

The nurses at the institute work with dedication and professionalism for the patients, despite the complex situation, and for the sake of the patients they even agreed to a process of mediation."
