Long distance confrontation on the front pages, in view of the polls, between the two leaders of the Democratic Party and the 5-star Movement.

'The choice is clear, either us or Meloni, two profoundly different Italies',

Enrico Letta

explains to Repubblica, and quoting Berlinguer's last words, he says that the Democratic Party's campaign will be 'a house by house, street by street campaign'.

For an open and expansive list, the proposals count more than the coalition, and in the wake of the Draghi government.

Speaking with everyone, even with the former FI ministers: 'I also say this to those who turn up their noses in my house'.

The Draghi agenda is the starting point, but going further on work, social justice, the fight against inequalities and rights.

But with the 5S the path is interrupted: July 20 was a point of no return.

'The Democratic Party is arrogant.

We are the progressives ',

Giuseppe Conte

told the Press , according to which there is widespread hypocrisy on the end of the Draghi government and' we try to unload the blame on the M5s, which has only asked to solve some critical issues ': and it is' a 'infamy' to say that he cheated.

As for the end of the wide field, 'one cannot think - he reflects - of arrogantly defining a perimeter of the game and arbitrarily establishing who is admitted to it'.

'Our agenda defines us as true progressives', and it is up to the Democratic Party to decide what to do: 'Obviously, if they are looking for a moderate change that can also accommodate Calenda we cannot stay there'.

According to the democratic secretary,

the electoral challenge will be "who wants to stay in Europe against those who want nationalisms", and what the Democratic Party will do this summer "will be a house by house, street by street campaign", with the Unity celebrations that they will be a call for volunteers.

"We will put together 100,000", explains the secretary, "In August we will be in all the semi-deserted cities, in the suburbs, to talk to those who have not been able to go on vacation".

As for the alliances, Letta declares that she does not want to draw boundaries, and explains that she wants to dialogue with Calenda, Renzi, Di Maio and Speranza.

And also with the ministers who left Forza Italia who "deserve appreciation", she adds: "I also say this to those who turn up their noses in my house".

No space for the Cinquestelle instead.

In that case "the common path was interrupted on July 20 and cannot resume, it was a point of no return", says the leader dem: "I had warned Conte that not voting for the first trust would be the Sarajevo shot" .

For his part, the president of the Cinquestelle

believes that there is "a widespread form of hypocrisy" on the end of the Draghi government and "an attempt is being made to place the blame on the Movement, which has only asked for some critical issues to be resolved".

"It is an infamy" - Conte attacks - to give the Movement a traitor.

"The first blow of this crisis - he reflects - was fired by those who inserted a rule on the Rome incinerator in the aid decree, knowing perfectly well that they are putting two fingers in the eyes of the Movement".

And according to the president of the pentastellati, "a government of national unity that fails to build a terrain of political dialectic, but relies on self-referential decision-making", he says, "inevitably ends up short-circuiting and jumping".

As for the wide field, "I've always said it. You can't think of arrogantly defining a perimeter of the game and arbitrarily establishing who is admitted to it."

And now "it's up to the Democratic Party to decide what to do", says Conte, who sets some stakes: "If the dem are looking for a moderate change that can also accommodate Calenda's agenda, we can't stay there".

Mario Draghi Conte said he had "always respected the role" of Prime Minister, but "prestige is not enough", because "concrete answers are needed".

From Draghi - Conte sums up - "we have not seen adequate responses to our requests".

"Our agenda," he continues, "defines us as the true progressives."

The election campaign has started.

Commenting on Silvio Berlusconi's promises, he says that "the game has begun on who shoots the biggest. I don't participate. I want to be close to those who have lost hope".
