Alicia Vikander: "When I was at the height of my fame, I was at my saddest"

"It's lonely and cold at the top," Judy Garland once said.

She had to know, as she was one of the biggest Hollywood stars of the past century.

But apparently nothing has changed in all the decades.

Celebrities and wealth – all well and good, but as a star you can still feel lonely.

That's what Oscar winner Alicia Vikander said.

"When I was at the peak of my fame in other people's eyes, I was at my saddest," she told the London Times: "I kept telling myself, 'Take it.

It's incredible.' But I didn't know what to do.

There were all these first class flights, five star rooms.

But I was always alone.

I was all alone«.

The 33-year-old Swede rose to international fame in 2012 when she starred in the Oscar-nominated film The Queen and the Physician.

The big breakthrough came in 2016, when Vikander achieved double success with her roles in »Ex Machina« and »The Danish Girl« – and she even won an Oscar.

Fans adored Vikander, but she wasn't exactly happy about her new star status.

»Surreal Experience«

Immediately after »The Danish Girl«, Vikander inherited a difficult legacy, taking on the role of Lara Croft, the warrior from the computer game »Tomb Raider«, previously played by Angelina Jolie.

There was hardly any time to take a deep breath.

»A surreal experience«, said Vikander in December 2016 about the celebrity stress: »Sydney, Seoul, Tokyo, London, Paris, Madrid«.

Berlin, New York, Las Vegas, later again shortly after Beijing.

That was probably too much.

»Variety« reports that around 2015 there were even rumors of a breakup about Vikander and her then-boyfriend Michael Fassbender.

Today the two are married, live far away from Hollywood in Portugal and are looking forward to having children in 2021.

But getting there was difficult, as Vikander now told The Times.

The actress hinted that she had a miscarriage.

"We now have a child, but it took us time," said the 33-year-old.

That was “extreme” and “painful”.

Vikander can still be seen in front of the camera, for example in the fanatic drama »The Green Knight« or the thriller »Beckett«.

But she hasn't won the big prizes lately.

It will probably be all right with you.
