The Hartz IV bonus was supposed to be paid out in July, but many are still waiting for their one-off payment.

All payout dates can be found here.

Actually, the Hartz IV bonus should have been paid out long ago - at least that was the hope of many beneficiaries.

The federal government had introduced the immediate surcharge as part of its multi-billion dollar relief package, which is intended to give citizens financial support in view of the increased prices.

For this purpose, a one-time payment of 200 euros was to be made to all those entitled to social assistance in July.

But while some can already look forward to the Hartz IV bonus, the money has still not landed in most of the beneficiaries (as of July 20, 2022).

Why is that?

The payment dates have been set: the Hartz 4 bonus of 200 euros ends up in the accounts of the welfare recipients in July and August.

Hartz 4 bonus: Why is the payment delayed in many places?

The reason why the payment of the Hartz IV bonus is delayed for many is due to the different organization of the offices.

According to media reports, the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs reports that around a quarter of the job centers in Germany are in municipal hands.

Anyone who reports to these job centers has probably already received the immediate bonus of 200 euros.

The rest of the job centers in Germany, i.e. around three quarters, are subject to the organization of the Federal Employment Agency.

The customers of these institutions will probably not receive their Hartz IV bonus until July 23, 2022. However, for some beneficiaries, the payment date may be pushed back - for example for those whose entitlement to Hartz IV is still being examined.

The payment date can then be postponed until August or even September.

According to a report by Hartziv.org

, the following payment dates for the Hartz IV bonus are

currently fixed:

  • 07/23/2022

  • 08/20/2022 (1st repeat run)

  • 09/24/2022 (2nd repeat run)

Attention - payment date July 23, 2022 is a Saturday

Since July 23, 2022 falls on a Saturday, the payment will either end up in your account earlier or after July 25 (Monday).
