Amazon Prime raises prices – subscription is 30 percent more expensive
That is changing:
Amazon announced that it would increase its prices for the Prime subscription.
And that's not exactly small, because the annual fee gets a hefty surcharge of 30 percent.
Instead of the previous yearly EUR 69.00, users will in future have to pay EUR 89.90.
For the monthly payments, this means that instead of the usual 7.99 euros, you now have to pay 8.99 euros.
According to the company, the price increase will come into effect in September.
New monthly price:
8.99 euros
New annual price:
89.90 euros
Who is affected by the price increase?
The price increase of the Amazon Prime subscription will affect every user of this service.
According to a survey from 2019 shared on the Statista online platform, around 67 percent of Germans have an Amazon Prime subscription.
This means that around every second household is likely to transfer more money to Amazon in the future.
Subscriber customers will be contacted by Amazon via email.
Anyone who does not agree with the change then has the option of canceling the subscription free of charge within 30 days.
However, if you do not do this, you will have to accept the higher costs for the next bill.

That's why the increase comes:
Amazon itself justified this drastic increase by inflation and the company's increased operating costs.
The internet giant also claims that the service has expanded since the last price increase in 2017.
Users now get even more streaming content and a much faster delivery of it.
