The info not to miss

End of the fight in the hemicycle.

After four days of intense and often heated debate, the National Assembly adopted on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday the second part of the measures in support of purchasing power, before its examination in the Senate.

The text contains in particular the continuation of the tariff shield on energy and the fuel discount at 30 cents per liter in September/October then 10 in November/December, the revaluation of the index point for civil servants, as well as the abolition of the audiovisual license fee.

It also opens 44 billion euros in loans, including 9.7 to finance the renationalisation of 100% of EDF.

Early Friday morning, the Assembly had already adopted the first part, the 20 billion euros of the “emergency” bill in support of purchasing power, in the face of galloping inflation.

On Tuesday evening, the government almost suffered a setback when the Assembly voted at first reading, against its opinion, an amendment enacting a revaluation of 500 million euros for retirement pensions.

But the deputies returned in the night on this revaluation, during a stormy second deliberation requested by the executive.

Following the debate, Bruno Le Maire still promised a further increase in retirement pensions by 2023, “because inflation will increase by then”.

This summer, pensions will already increase by 4%, recalled the Minister of the Economy.

  • Hérault: the fire no longer progresses.

The Mediterranean vegetation fire which broke out on Tuesday about twenty kilometers from Montpellier (Hérault) "is no longer progressing", even if it is not yet fixed, firefighters said on Wednesday morning, after a night of struggle.

  • Unemployment figures down.

Over one year, the number of job seekers in category A fell by 15.6%, announces Dares, the study and statistics service of the Ministry of Labour.

This quarter, the number of unemployed in category A fell slightly, with a drop of 0.6% (-18,100 registered).

  • Euro: Les Bleues one step away from the final.

The French women's football team faces Germany this Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. in the semi-finals of the Euro.

The challenge is great for Les Bleues: the impressive Germany has eight Euro titles (a record), an Olympic gold medal, and two World Cups to its name.

  • A “commando” to replace the Scientific Council.

The body, launched at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and which will bow out on July 31, will be replaced “within ten days” promises the Minister of Health François Braun.

Instead, a "commando team of top scientists" will work independently.

  • RT France suspended, Moscow retaliates.

After the suspension of the French antenna of the Russian channel, the Kremlin announces that it wants to hinder "the work of the Western media" on its soil.

RT France, for its part, intends to appeal its suspension confirmed by European justice.

Owners, beware of the amount of property tax for your budget.

According to a study by Meilleurtaux, which screened the 20 largest cities in France, the property tax, paid only by the owners, costs 105 euros per month on average (+ 4 euros compared to 2021) for a couple with two children living in a 70 m2.

This represents a little more than an additional monthly payment of credit per year.

In some cities, the tax can be particularly high: in Nîmes (Gard) and Saint-Étienne (Loire), the property tax represents an average of 2.1 monthly additional credit payments over the year.
