The fatal shots were fired in front of a Berlin shisha bar, one of the suspects was temporarily volatile: The Berlin public prosecutor's office has now filed charges against three men who are said to have shot a 42-year-old in front of a bar.

The authorities said they were accused of joint murder.

The men are said to have acted insidiously and with base motives.

The accused, aged 29, 34 and 52, are said to have killed the 42-year-old last October in front of a bar in the Wedding district at close range with two targeted shots in the head.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the background to the crime is entanglements that are said to have grown from a dispute over a seat in a cinema in 2005 to a family feud last year.

Shortly after the crime, the police suspected "private disputes" as the motive.

Quarrels between families flared up again and again

After the disputes could still be settled in 2005, years later there were more arguments.

At a wedding celebration in 2018, mutual insults are said to have taken place.

As a result, the 42-year-old is said to have been severely injured by punches and kicks from several members of the other family immediately after the celebration.

Two of the accused – the 34-year-old and his 52-year-old father – had already been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by the Berlin district court in 2019 for joint dangerous bodily harm.

The Criminal Court came to the conclusion that the injured party should only have been given a »note«.

In addition, the two accused had shown remorse and an insight into wrongdoing at the time.

Woman died from unsecured gun

However, a member of the attacking family also had a firearm with him in October 2018, which he had not adequately secured.

A shot was fired, fatally injuring a young woman from the same family.

Despite this process, the members of the family also saw the 42-year-old responsible for this incident.

According to the public prosecutor's office, the disputes that followed were characterized by threats and vows of blood revenge, and various so-called justices of the peace are said to have been involved.

It is said to have been initially agreed that the 42-year-old would leave Berlin for some time.

In September 2021, however, he was said to have been signaled that he could come back.

Shortly thereafter he was murdered in front of the shisha bar.

The 34-year-old and the 54-year-old were serving their sentences from 2019 in an open prison at the time of the crime.

After their return to the prison, they were reportedly immediately transferred to the closed prison.
