Company from Bavaria recalls flour - danger for infants and small children

The Franz Brand mill from Lower Bavaria urgently calls out a wheat flour.

Germs pose a health risk, especially for infants and small children.

Munich/Leiblfing - "In particular, infants, small children, senior citizens and people with a weakened immune system can develop more severe illnesses with bloody diarrhea." The recall notice from the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety is tough.

Recall: Mill Franz Brand from Lower Bavaria is recalling wheat flour

The company Mühle Franz Brand from Leiblfing in the Lower Bavarian district of Straubing-Bogen has recalled its wheat flour type 405 and type 1050 with 5 kg, 10 kg and 25 kg with the best before dates March 2023 and June 2023.

The flour in question is exclusively products sold locally at the mill in Leiblfing.

For example, these were not dispatched via digital distribution channels.

"The product could contain EHEC pathogens, which can be hazardous to health if eaten raw," explains the manufacturer in a statement shared by consumer advocates.

As the Federal Center for Health Education writes, these germs, which are found in "cattle, sheep, goats, deer or deer," can "transmit to humans and cause diarrheal diseases, sometimes with serious complications."

According to a company announcement shared by the Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety, “especially in small children, acute kidney failure can occur in a second flare-up a few days after the onset of diarrhea”.

Advice: Anyone who has eaten this food and develops severe or persistent symptoms should seek medical attention and report possible EHEC infection.

Customers who bought this wheat flour in Leiblfing can bring it back at any time for a refund of the purchase price, the product recall continues.
