(ANSA) - MANILA, JUL 28 - The toll from the strong 7-magnitude earthquake that hit the Philippine island of Luzon yesterday has risen to at least five dead and over 150 injured.

Hundreds of buildings have been damaged or destroyed, roads have been blocked by landslides and electricity has been cut off in various provinces.

More than 800 aftershocks were recorded since the first shock, 24 of which were strong enough to be felt by the population.
