During the night, 25 families from San Michele del Carso, a hamlet of Savogna (Udine), were evacuated from their homes.
The fire that broke out again yesterday in the course of the night and developed on Mount Brestovec, was rapidly reaching the houses, burning the woods.
The fire was rekindled yesterday afternoon, then, thanks also to the intervention of two helicopters, it was brought under control.
In the evening, however, powered by the wind, it increased in power becoming a threat to the inhabitants of San Michele and around 3 am the mayor ordered the evacuation.
The 25 families were placed in the Savogna gym.
It is, as explained by the deputy governor of the Fvg with delegations to Civil Protection and Health, Riccardo Riccardi,
of the same structures set up last week on the occasion of a previous evacuation, and which have not been dismantled.
Firefighters, men of the Forestry Corps and Civil Protection worked all night in an attempt to contain the advance of the fire.
The arrival of two Canadair from Rome is expected on the spot.
