(ANSA) - CATANIA, 28 JUL - Assets worth over 23 million euros have been confiscated by the Guardia di Finanza of Catania from Giombattista Puccio, entrepreneur from Vittoria (Ragusa) in the fruit and vegetable packaging sector.
The provision was issued by the Etna Court, upon request of the local DDA, and also provides, for the man, the special surveillance for three years, with the obligation to stay in the Municipality of residence.
According to the prosecution, Puccio, convicted of rapina, personal injury and attempted aggravated and continued extortion, is "historically close to the Stidda mafia association" and "thanks to his support he has managed to have a dominant position in the market for fruit and vegetable packaging".
The Public Prosecutor of Catania believes that "the companies and individual enterprises headed by Puccio were the result of the illicit conduct of the entrepreneur, who managed them with the mafia method, thus increasing their ability to penetrate and influence the market".
The confiscation order,
based on investigations by the Gico del Nucleo Pef of the Guardia di Finanza of Catania, it concerns ottosocietà and sole proprietorships, a commercial building, two cars and a motor vehicle and financial relationships in the name or otherwise attributable to Puccio.
