(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 28 - Kiev accuses Russia of abandoning the bodies of its soldiers who died in Ukraine to avoid paying compensation to their families.
The spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry OlegNikolenko says that the Russians "do not take the corpses from the battlefield because according to their legislation the family of every dead soldier receives seven million rubles.
Nothing instead if they are missing: no bodies meaning money".
In March, President Vladimir Putin told the Russian Security Council that families of soldiers killed in the so-called "special military operation" in Ukraine would receive a lump sum payment of 7.421 million rubles (about 121,000 euros) plus a monthly fee.
