Why is it forbidden to "keep farts inside"?

A British man who claims that he hasn't stopped farting since he ate a sandwich with pork sausage 5 years ago, is suing a food stand for 235,000 euros (about NIS 815,000).

Tyrone Prades, 46, bought the sandwich in December 2017 during a visit to the Birmingham Christmas market where he was walking with his wife and children.

His lawyers told the court that he suffered from stomach pains, fever, vomiting and diarrhea a few hours after eating that sandwich.

Pradas claims he was bedridden for five weeks with salmonella poisoning as a result.

The lawyers added that since then Mr. Prades suffers from regular and uncontrollable gasses, which embarrasses him in public and wakes him up at night.

His lawyer, Robert Parkin, told the court that Mr Prades' stomach continued to make embarrassing rumbling noises after the illness had passed.

Parkin said: "The plaintiff continues to suffer from excessive gas, which causes him a lot of embarrassment. The symptoms are mainly fatigue and a change in bowel functions related to 'digging' feelings in the stomach and gas. The plaintiff's stomach continues to make frequent noises - so much so that it wakes him up from sleep. The extent of the symptoms sleep his life".

The lawyer also claimed that the stand in question was closed and disinfected following an investigation by the Public Health Division in England.

According to reports in the UK, other customers who bought food at the market also fell ill.

Pradas' legal case hinges on whether or not there was salmonella.

Philip Davey, the lawyer for Frankfurt Christmas Market Ltd - the stall that served the pork sandwich - admitted that the council's environmental health officers had found E coli bacteria on the knife - but not salmonella. He also said that because Mr Prades had not claimed that he suffered from an E. coli infection, he must prove the salmonella claim in order to receive the compensation he is demanding. "Frankfurt Christmas Market Ltd" denies the allegations, but the case will now go to trial.

Rory Bednoch, another of Pradas' lawyers, said the €235,000 claim could further rise given the sandwich's lasting effect on his client.
