Important innovations for consumers in August 2022: student loans, employment contracts, medication - these new rules apply.

Munich - students should be happy.

Starting in August, you will receive a six percent increase in the Bafög rates, while the income of the parents, the protective assets and other allowances have been increased.

This means that Bafög recipients can benefit from up to around 930 euros per month in the winter semester.

Students who have health and long-term care insurance themselves and no longer through their parents receive higher supplements.

"The maximum subsidy rate including housing allowance increases from 861 euros to 934 euros - an increase of more than eight percent," reports the

tagesschau.de

.

Access to Bafög funding should also become easier with the 27th Bafög amendment of the Bundestag.

New rules for students as of August 1st:

side jobs:

Students should be able to earn 330 euros in a part-time job without affecting the Bafög amount - currently it is 290 euros.

Child care allowance:

Students who already have children can in future receive a childcare allowance of EUR 160 per month instead of the previous EUR 150.

The money is intended for babysitters, for example, when there are courses in the evening.

age limit:

If you want to start studying later, you can also get Bafög in the future.

The age limit is raised from 30 to 45 years.

Pupils and trainees who do not live with their parents are also on the winning side.

From August you will receive 631 euros instead of the previous 585 euros.

This group of people will already receive the higher contributions at the beginning of the school year and will thus benefit in part from the changes in August, according to

.

Changes in August: New employment contracts and compulsory measles vaccination

Anyone who hires new employees from August 1st must specify more working conditions in the employment contract than before.

The reason is the implementation of the "EU directive on transparent and reliable working conditions".

The new proof law will apply from August 1st and is intended to create more clarity for employees.

Employers must provide the most important information about the position in the employment contract.

These include working hours, notice periods and salary.

Group practice and medical facility employees born after 1970 must provide proof of measles vaccination by July 31, 2022.

So this applies to employees in hospitals, medical practices and schools.

This would also affect cleaning companies and craftsmen, reports the online portal of

Focus

.

Anyone who does not provide this proof will no longer be allowed to work in the respective facility from August 1st without vaccination.

Otherwise sanctions threatened.

From August 2022, employees in certain sectors and certain years will be required to be vaccinated against measles (symbolic image).

Changes in August: 9 euro ticket and gas emergency plan

It is already clear that the popular 9-euro ticket expires on August 31st.

So if you want to take another trip to Sylt or Lake Constance with the ticket, you have to hurry.

Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing (FDP) believes that a successor model is possible, but at what price - that has not yet been determined.

A 69-euro monthly ticket for regional transport is currently being discussed.

Outcome uncertain.

If it were up to the German Environmental Aid, there would soon be a 1-euro day ticket for buses and trains.

Because of the energy crisis, the EU countries want to use less gas from this month.

An emergency plan provides for the member states to voluntarily reduce national consumption by 15 percent in the period from August to March 31, 2023, reports the

German Press Agency

(dpa).

How the goal is to be achieved is left up to the individual member states, adds

Changes in August: Cheaper medicines for patients

Starting in the new month, cheaper biopharmaceuticals will be available in pharmacies.

The drugs should be just as effective.

From August 16, this will be regulated by the new law for more safety in the supply of medicines.

These so-called biosimilars always come onto the market when the patent rights for the original drugs expire.

According to

t-online

, the legislator hopes to save drug costs by using biosimilars.

The law implementing the Digitization Directive will come into force on August 1st.

It sets the course for certain types of companies to be founded online in the future.

Anyone who wants to found a GmbH (limited liability company) or entrepreneurial company, “UG” (limited liability) for short, no longer has to appear in person at the notary.

An online meeting should suffice instead.
