The small kingdom of the Himalayas has never sought quantity.
It was not even until 1974 that Bhutan authorized the arrival of foreigners for the first time, and again, in dribs and drabs, with only 300 people coming to discover this territory that year.
In 2019, Bhutan registered 315,600 tourists, 15% more than the previous year, according to the TCB (Tourism Council of Bhutan).
And after two years of tourist shortage, Covid-19 obliges, the Asian country could have reopened its borders widely to relieve a suffering sector, as most of its neighbors have done.
