Blondin (the good of the title, despite his dubious morality, embodied by Clint Eastwood) forms with Tuco (the ugly) a duo of crooks authors of a risky scheme.
Tuco being wanted for multiple offenses, Blondin hands him over to the authorities, receives the bounty, then saves his accomplice before he is hanged.
While Blondin has decided to break the association, the duo learns of the existence of a hidden southern treasure.
Problem, Sentenza (the Brute), a ruthless killer, is on his trail, all in the middle of the Civil War.
