Blueberries contain phytonutrients - plant components that help prevent various types of diseases.

Yogurt has also been shown to be effective in treating blood vessel and heart problems.

According to a new meta-analysis published this month in the Journal of the American Heart Association, consuming three grams of omega-3 fatty acids each day, such as those found in abundance in salmon, is the right amount to maintain optimal blood pressure for people of all ages.

The researchers looked at 70 studies that included 5,000 participants aged 22 to 86. They found that three or more grams of omega-3 per day lowered blood pressure in just 10 weeks, both in systolic pressure (the higher of the two) and diastolic pressure.

People with high blood pressure (above 140/90), the so-called "silent killer", even saw a more significant decrease.

A new observational study from Japan highlights the virtues of vinegar in our diet.

He does this through an experiment conducted by scientists from Osaka University who report that regular consumption of a Japanese cucumber and seaweed salad called sunomono among older men (40+) helps maintain lower blood pressure.

A previous study showed that people who drank 30 ml of vinegar on a daily basis tended to have lower blood pressure levels. However, the people studied also lost a significant amount of weight, which may explain the low blood pressure.

tea

Tea is also a summer drink.

Most of us can't do without our morning coffee, but it's not certain that your heart enjoys the stimulating drink so much.

The high concentration of caffeine in coffee temporarily raises blood pressure and can cause a variety of other medical problems, especially if you have a family history of heart problems.

It is recommended to replace your morning coffee with green tea, which has been scientifically proven to significantly improve blood circulation in our body.

And yes, you can also make it cold so that it cools you down from the terrible heat outside.

Spices are a great way to add flavor to a bland meal, but new research shows they may do a lot more than that.

Researchers from Penn State University in Pennsylvania in the USA claim that adding an extra teaspoon or two of herbs and spices to food lowers blood pressure. This, without reducing the amount of salt or adding vegetables and fruits to the menu.

The team from Penn State and Texas Tech University found that an addition of 6.5 grams (a teaspoon and a half) of herbs and spices to the menu lowered systolic blood pressure (the higher value of the two that measures the flow when the heart pumps blood to the organs) and diastolic blood pressure (the lower value taken when the heart "rests" between heartbeats) after four weeks. Researchers believe their findings Offering people a simple and delicious way to improve heart health without major changes in diet.

Orange Juice

Good for many other things.

Orange juice is usually mentioned in the context of its high vitamin C content, and rightly so.

But that's not all it has to offer.

Orange juice is also rich in potassium, an important mineral for muscle health.

One of the most important and strongest muscles in our body is the heart, and the potassium in orange juice helps it contract and pump blood more efficiently.

Another property of potassium is that it counteracts the effects of excessive sodium intake.

Sodium causes blood vessels to constrict, while potassium causes them to expand and allows a better passage of blood through them.
