(ANSA) - BEIJING, AUGUST 03 - The Eastern Command of the People's Liberation Army will carry out long-range artillery firing operations and missile launches in the sea east of Taiwan, as part of "targeted exercises" which have already started this evening in response to the visit of the Speaker of the US House Nancy Pelosi in Taipei.
It can be read in one of the various notes issued by the Ministry of Defense, this time signed by spokesman Wu Qian, who promises to "resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity and resolutely oppose external interference and separatist attempts" from Taiwan.
