(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 02 - The President of the American Chamber Nancy Pelosi, head of the congressional delegation, arrived in Malaysia, the second stage of her tour in Asia, before the hypothesis of a stop in Taiwan, based on many previews of the media .

Pelosi, in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, arrived after landing at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) base in Subang at around 10.30 local time, after a short flight from Singapore.

The speaker is expected to meet counterpart Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun at the Parliament building at noon before lunch with Prime Minister DatukSeri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, according to local media reports.

The official program foresees that, after Kuala Lumpur, Pelosi will head to Seoul, South Korea: the route of commercial flights on the route follows the east coast of Taiwan, therefore opposite that of China, creating the best conditions for a stop in Taipei with threats of minilitary response from Beijing.

The United States established diplomatic ties with Malaysia in 1957 following independence from Great Britain: the parties elevated bilateral relations to a global partnership in April 2014. (ANSA).
