Ikea is getting more expensive.

The Swedish furniture store is reacting to the economic crisis with sometimes drastic price increases.

A tip can still make the receipt moderate.

Munich – Ikea.

Some love the furniture store from Sweden, others hate it.

The fact is, however, that when looking for inexpensive interior design, the blue and yellow branches are the first port of call for many.

On average, more than 30 million customers find what they are looking for in furniture, decorative items or household goods every year - and that in Germany alone.

Ikea increases prices: The Swedish furniture store's economic situation makes products significantly more expensive

But the affordability of Ikea's products is now experiencing a significant dampener.

As the

Frankfurter Allgemeine Sunday newspaper claims

to have learned when asked, the furniture giant sees itself forced to raise prices because of the "dynamic situation on the world market".

So far, price increases at Ikea have usually taken place once a year.

In the future, however, a price increase should even happen every three months.

Ikea cites the increased costs for raw materials and transport as the reason, as well as the current energy prices.

The associated difficulties in the supply chain are likely to do the rest to explain the significant price increases for various products.

An increase of nine percent was announced - but some items have become much more expensive.

The box office hit par excellence, the “Billy” shelf, which can now be bought for 55 euros, made a drastic price jump of 16 euros.

The dainty “Klippan” sofa is also up to 60 euros more expensive, depending on the colour.

It seems particularly problematic that furniture with a rather rudimentary design is also affected by the changes.

So far, these have stood out precisely because of their moderate prices.

It can also be stated that the specific design seems to have a clear influence on the receipt;

For example, Ikea charges 29 euros for the black cover of the “Klippan”, while the light blue one has to be purchased for 129 euros.

Ikea is becoming significantly more expensive: Standard delivery costs more than many a piece of furniture

In some cases, Ikea now even charges almost twice as much for products.

The most prominent example is the rattan armchair "Buskbo".

The piece of furniture that was previously offered for 99 euros now costs 100 euros more.

However, it is currently unclear why the price increases are so different.

The only ray of hope: Ikea sets the prices differently around the world – so if you are close to the border, a trip to the neighboring country can be worthwhile under certain circumstances.

The absolute price hammer, however, is the increase in the fee for the standard delivery of furniture.

First of all: Anyone who thinks that they can order postage free in the Ikea online shop is wrong.

Presumably because of its popularity, the furniture store does not waive shipping costs above a certain amount.

Anyone ordering larger goods previously had to be prepared for around 29 euros for delivery - and these costs have now even risen.

Ikea now charges a whopping 49 euros as standard for shipping goods between 30 kg and 100 kg - an increase of almost 68 percent.

For example, the “Billy” shelf would be only six euros more expensive than its postage.
