Tensions between China and the United States have been reignited since the announcement of the visit to Taiwan by Nancy Pelosi.
China's People's Army posted a video titled "Burying All Our Enemies Who Dare To Invade Us" on Monday, performing land, sea and air drills.
Despite these threats, Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Speaker of the House of Representatives traveled to Taiwan on August 2.
Taiwan has been a bone of contention between the United States and China for more than 70 years.
"The United States will certainly be responsible (for the consequences) and will have to pay the price for its attack on China's sovereignty and security," said Hua Chunying, spokesperson for Chinese diplomacy.
However, the United States tried to ease tensions by reaffirming via John Kirby, spokesperson for the White House: “We do not support Taiwan independence”.
And the Democratic speaker of the House of Representatives clarified that her visit shows the "unconditional support" of the United States for the island and that it does not "contradict" American policy vis-à-vis China.
The Middle Kingdom - meanwhile - announces "targeted military actions" in response to Pelosi's visit to the island.
Not enough to bring the tension down.
