(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 02 - The White House confirms the killing of the leader of Al Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahri, on July 30 in Kabulin, a precision operation carried out by the CIA "under the direction of Joe Biden".
The Taliban condemned the operation, in their view contrary to the Doha agreements.
Al-Zawahri, one of the masterminds of the 9/11 attacks, took over the reins of the terrorist organization in 2011 after the killing of Osama bin Laden.
"My hope is that this action" will allow the families of 9/11 victims to "move on," JoeBiden said, speaking from the balcony of the White House's Blue Room.
