(ANSA) - BEIJING, AUGUST 03 - Three people were killed and six wounded Wednesday after a man armed with a knife broke into an asylum in Jiangxi province, in south-east China.
Described as a "gangster wearing a cap and a mask" attacked the private asylum in Anfu County, police said in a statement published on Weibo, the 'Chinese Twitter'.
The murderer has fled, and the police are chasing him.
Such attacks are rare in China, a country that strictly forbids citizens from possessing firearms, but in recent years there has been a series of mass stabbings.
Last April, two children were killed and 16 others injured when a man armed with a knife entered an asylum in the above-mentioned China.
Most recently, four people were injured in a stabbing at a Shanghai hospital last month before the knife-wielding assailant was shot and seized by police.
Six people were killed and 14 injured after a knife-wielding man started hitting pedestrians on a pedestrianized shopping street in Anqing, eastern China, in June last year.
