Pupils eat during the long break in order to be strengthened for the rest of the school day.

Edeka has a special catering offer for the start of the school year.

Munich – While the summer holidays have only just begun in Bavaria, the days off from school are almost over in other parts of Germany.

North Rhine-Westphalia is the first of the 16 federal states to start the new school year on August 10th.

Apparently, the supermarkets and discounters are also prepared.

At Edeka, for example, there is a special offer for schoolchildren in North Rhine-Westphalia in the week before the first day of school.

Under the motto "Everything for the start of school", the current Edeka catalog for the 31st calendar week of 2022 contains a number of products that are intended to sweeten the start of the new school year.

A Twitter user posted a picture of the catalog cover.

On it you see a boy who answers as if he wants to say something in his class.

There are also some items that probably many children like: chocolate bars, crisps and fruit.

In NRW, Edeka offers "Everything for the start of school" - "Fresh pork neck chops" for the long break

A colorful snack for school could be conjured up from the three things mentioned.

Part healthy, part a sweet treat during a busy school day.

But that's not all that Edeka offers the students for the long break.

The supermarket chain also has "Fresh pork neck chops and roast" on special offer under the heading "Everything for the start of school".

The Twitter user commented on her snapshot of the Edeka catalog with amusement.

"Do you know that?

It's the start of school and your students come to school with neck chops," she wrote, adding a laughing emoji: "Cover interesting, Edeka."

Edeka: Pork neck chops as food for school?

"Get the grill on"

In fact, the raw piece of meat probably doesn't fit into the list of things that are good for school meals.

Or does it?

"Stable with a blueberry-based sauce.

Everything will be done in the first hour of housekeeping after the holidays," another Twitter user joked about the school deal at Edeka.

"Throw on the grill," said another user ironically.

"We had a huge yeast pretzel for enrollment," commented another Twitter user, "you distributed it in the neighborhood and then got little things, but neck chops, that's new to me." Another user apparently already had experience in matters of atypical school meals.

And was able to gain a positive aspect from the chops.

"I'd rather have that and not a packet of soup that you eat like chips," he said.

Will the trend towards rustic meat snacks prevail in schools?

That seems extremely unlikely.

However, an Edeka competitor recently drew attention to itself with an offer of a special kind.

A Rewe employee let off steam with a discount sign.
