A dispute over a parking space is said to have triggered a mass brawl with several hundred clan members in Essen.
This emerges from a paper from the Ministry of the Interior to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament.
The tremendous commotion at the end of June had caused an enormous stir.
In the days that followed, there were other smaller clashes between clan members in Essen.
The background to the dispute has not yet been fully clarified, according to the response from the North Rhine-Westphalia government to a small inquiry from the AfD in the Düsseldorf state parliament.
However, it is assumed that on the afternoon of June 25, five clan members initially argued about a parking space.
According to the paper, in the evening members of the extended families met in a restaurant in the Altendorf district.
In the end, 200 to 400 people attacked each other.
Many were reportedly armed with knives or baseball bats.
Chairs and tables were also used as weapons.
A 30-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after being stabbed in the neck.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, a 26-year-old is suspect here.
The victim is said to have previously injured an opponent with a knife in the stomach.
