This invention is certainly not comfortable, but it is extremely impressive: A Canadian engineer has developed an oversized robotic suit that gives the pilot superpowers.

"OK.

Let's see what's in her

.'

It looks like a scene from a Hollywood movie.

Behind this is the dream come true of a "Transformers" fan who is a full-time mechanical engineer.

Caught by his fascination with robots, Canadian Jonathan Tippett now works full-time on so-called exoskeletons with his engineering friends.

“There's literally nothing quite like stepping into a giant 10,000-pound, 200-horsepower suit.

He multiplies your power by 50 times.

It's scary at first because you have to climb and weave your way onto this three meter high machine.

«

After years of work, including in cooperation with the University of British Colombia, and investments of millions, the prototype, weighing several tons, was created, which according to the »Guinness Book of Records« is the largest robotic suit in the world.

However, the electrically operated robot cannot be operated immediately by everyone.

“You're locked in at first because the exoframe is directly connected to the structure, to the legs of the machine.

So unless you turn it on, you can't move.

And then the pumps are turned on.

The liquid begins to flow, the pressure increases and the machine suddenly becomes agile and somehow almost comes to life.

And you find that this 10,000-pound machine moves under your control with the slightest movement of your hand or foot

.”

Tippet's company, Exosapien Technologies, also invented a new sport that pits five to six athletes in robotic suits against each other in an obstacle race.

If the founders had their way, however, machines like these would be used more in mining, agriculture and forestry and in disaster control in the future.

"The sky's the limit, a suit like that is about as useful as a human, but reinforced 50 times

."

Meanwhile, the engineers are already working on the next generation of robots.

It should be smaller and only weigh half as much, but be even stronger.

Approximate asking price: $50 to $150,000.
