70 million dollars of investment, two years of production, five months of filming with the singer Leslie Grace and even the ex-glory Michael Keaton… for nothing.

The release of the feature film "Batgirl", dedicated to the heroine of the DC Comics universe, scheduled for the end of the year on the HBO Max platform has been canceled by Warner Bros, according to the American press.

The film should not be shown in dark rooms either.

The New York Post, first to release the info, evokes tests on the spectators so catastrophic that Warner would have made the decision to sacrifice the film to preserve the image of the brand.

Variety and The Wrap attribute this cancellation to a change in strategy of the Warner group, in full internal restructuring after the takeover by the Discovery group last spring.

Same fate reserved for “Scoob!”

The production company would have chosen to dedicate DC superhero films to the cinema from now on, by producing very big budget blockbusters.

Which is not the profile of "Batgirl" initially conceived as a film intended for platforms with a budget certainly up to 75 million dollars but much lower than the big Marvel productions which always achieve very good results at the box office, despite often average reviews.

Too bad for the fans who hoped to follow the adventures of Barbara Gordon alias "Batgirl", daughter of Commissioner Gordon, ally of the dark knight (who was to be interpreted by Michael Keaton, hero of the first films).

The filming of the feature film, directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah (“Bad Boys for Life”), had however been completed since last March according to The Wrap and the film had been in postproduction since.

But that's not all, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros has also decided to suspend the release of the animated feature film “Scoob!

: Holiday Haunt” whose budget is estimated at 40 million dollars.

Warner is definitely cleaning up.
