A gardener found a skeletonized male body in Bad Segeberg, Schleswig-Holstein.
The man came across the body while working on Tuesday evening, said the chief public prosecutor in Kiel, Michael Bimler, of the dpa news agency.
"shz.de" had previously reported.
The body was examined by forensic medicine on Wednesday morning, said Bimler.
However, the investigations are not yet complete.
"All we can say so far is that it's the body of a man."
She had been at the site for at least a few months.
Of course, a comparison is now being made with missing persons cases, said Bimler.
