The fear of running out of water prompted the prefecture to reinforce the restrictive measures already put in place a few weeks ago.

Watering is still possible under certain conditions, an interval of 36 hours is compulsory between each watering against 24 hours previously.

Controls will be reinforced to ensure compliance with the measure.

For agricultural use or not, this limitation is essential.

“Here too, the controls will be very significantly reinforced”, warn the State services.

As a reminder, the following activities are prohibited at any time if they are not linked to an economic activity: the washing of vehicles outside professional stations equipped with water savers, the filling of private swimming pools, the washing of boats are proscribed, among others, as indicated by the site of the prefecture.

A high risk of fire on the island of beauty

With this next shortage of water is added a risk of fire.

Weather conditions remain favorable for the outbreak of forest fires.

The authorities have been calling for caution since last weekend.

Météo France particularly warns of a pronounced risk in the south-east of France.

"The meteorological organization specifies that" this very high fire danger is linked to the wind regime (mistral and tramontane quite strong, especially on Saturday), and to the conditions remaining very hot and dry on increasingly sensitive vegetation ".

On Saturday, several forests in Haute-Corse had been closed due to a severe risk of fire.

A forest fire "inaccessible" to ground teams this Monday covered "450 ha" of maquis in the town of Santo-Pietro di Tenda in Haute-Corse, without threatening habitation.

It has now been "stable" since Tuesday morning with "a few hot spots", a spokesman for the fire department told AFP.
