In the case of a Hertha BSC fan who died after being hit, the police caught a suspect.
A 24-year-old was arrested in Rostock, said the Berlin public prosecutor's office.
The man is charged with assault resulting in death.
The accused will be brought before the investigating judge to issue the arrest warrant during the course of the day.
According to information from SPIEGEL, the arrest warrant for the man, who had no criminal record, was issued on July 27.
According to earlier information from the investigators, 55-year-old Michael R. got into a fight with the driver of a BMW with Rostock license plates in May after the relegation game between Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV near the Olympic Stadium.
The passenger is said to have got out and hit R. in the face with his fist.
According to the investigators, this blow was so severe that R. fell to the ground unchecked and hit the back of his head on the street.
R. suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, according to the public prosecutor's office.
He died about a month later from his severe injuries.
At the beginning of July, the police began looking for the suspect with an identikit.
Hertha BSC also called on witnesses "of the terrible act" to contact the investigators.
