ANSA Lavoro - ROME, 03 AUGUST - In June 2022, a cyclical decline for retail sales is estimated of 1.1% in value and 1.8% in volume.
Istat notes this, explaining that on an annual basis sales increase in June by 1.4% in value but decrease by 3.8% in volume compared to June 2021. The data is linked to the increase in prices.
In the April-June quarter there was a growth in value of 1.1% and a decrease in volume of 0.3% compared to the previous quarter.
In June, sales of non-food goods decreased compared to May both in value (-2.2%) and in volume (-2.5%), while for food goods there was an increase in value (+ 0.4%) and a decrease in volume (-0.8%).
On a trend basis, sales of non-food goods decreased (-0.8% in value and -3.3% in volume) in June, while those of food products recorded an increase in value (+ 4.5%) and a decrease in volume (-4.4%).
Compared to June 2021, the value of retail sales grows for large-scale distribution (+ 4.6%) and decreases for companies operating on small surfaces (-0.9%).
Sales outside the shops increased slightly (+ 0.1%) while there was a decline for e-commerce (-6.8%) after the boom recorded during the pandemic.
