August 3rd is Watermelon Day.
Melons are refreshing, delicious and healthy.
Watermelons in particular 🍉 are the epitome of summer for many.
So it's no wonder that the sweet fruit has also been a popular motif for T-shirts, swimming shorts and air mattresses for a number of years.
The watermelon lives up to its name.
It consists of 95% water and is therefore the perfect thirst quencher for the summer.
Speaking of thirst quenchers: for the connoisseurs and fans of cocktail umbrellas among us, we have created a tasty pink drink to celebrate the day.
chopsticks 🍹
That's how it's done:
You need the following ingredients for 2 glasses:
400 g watermelon, diced
400 g pineapple, diced
4 teaspoons brown sugar
16cl rum
200 g coconut milk
Juice of half a lime
400g ice cubes
Decoration:
sugar syrup
coconut flakes
The preparation is simple:
For the melon mix:
In a blender, mix the watermelon with half the ice cubes (200 g), rum (8 cl) and 2 teaspoons of sugar until you get a homogeneous mass.
Refrigerate.
For the pineapple-coconut mix:
In a clean blender, mix pineapple with coconut milk, lime juice and the remaining ice cubes, rum and sugar until you get a homogeneous mass.
Dip the rim of the cocktail glass first in the simple syrup and then in the coconut flakes so that the coconut flakes stick to the rim of the glass.
First fill the cocktail glasses halfway with the melon mix, then carefully fill up with the pineapple-coconut milk mix.
Decorate with melon and pineapple slices and enjoy ice-cold.
Cheers!
