Touch Bay Fusion is a unique and long-standing wine venture of the winemaker Doron Yitzhak from Matram.

Itzhaky, a civil engineer and CEO of a company, was the first winemaker of Tulip Winery, which belongs to his brother Roy. Itzhaky, a graduate of a master's degree in oenology at the University of Adelaide in Australia, imports wines produced in the classical wine countries (France, Germany, Italy and Spain) especially for him. He accompanies the process and is actually used by the winemaker of each given wine. The wines are produced but soft for his wine "line". There is no other such model here.



In the current tasting, wines from Germany and France, three whites, one sparkling white and two reds.

They come from stylistically different wine regions and putting them together lays out an interesting profile of the choices and preferences of the person behind them.

All the wines are good.

Most of them do well to reflect and represent the region and the regional wine industry.

Some of them provide good value for money.

Others are priced realistically relative to their quality.

There are, among others, Gewurztraminer and "Cremo" (sparkling) from Alsace, Riesling from the Reinhausen region in Germany, Syrah Blend and Grenache Noir from Minerva in Languedoc and more.

It's impossible without a few words about astringency:

a semi-dry white based on two Gewurztraminer varieties from mature 30-year-old vineyards in northern Alsace.

Primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks with the addition of yeast and maturation for three months.

The yeast is filtered twice.

Spicy Asian food.

The reviewer's comment:

A typical Alsatian "Gwertz" basic and very worthy, with all the familiar tropical fruit fan, without excessive sweetness, and an intense mineral layer.

It's not a high or connoisseur wine but it doesn't pretend to be either.

In the basic limitations he sets for himself, a proper response to what wines of this type know how to give is evident: a worthy summer sip at a reasonable price and a beautiful companion to food that has ginger, coriander, chili, fish sauce and friends.



Value for money:

4/5 (very good).

a dry white based on 3 different types of Riesling from the Rheinhausen region in Germany.

Fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 6 weeks and then an 8-month stay on the yeast.

What the reviewer says:

nice balance of fruit (peach, lime) and acid, mineral layer, good dryness.

A good Riesling of its kind with a nice gastronomic factor that will successfully accompany any meal from the sea, even a high one.

6-week fermentation in stainless steel and a five-month stay on the yeast in stainless steel.

It is impossible without a few words about astringency:

a dry white sparkling of the "Cremant" type from Alsace.

Based on Auxerois grapes from mature vineyards (27 years old) in Alsace.

Two fermentations and a year of maturing in the bottle, at the end of which the yeast is removed from the bottle by freezing its head and adding a balance liqueur. Clear golden color. Floral and slightly citrusy nose. Medium body. 12% alcohol by volume.

fish, seafood, Clams. Shami food.



The reviewer's comment:

Some of the French "Cremo" wines know how to give a very nice fête without a lot of champagne. The current "Cremo" definitely proves this statement. Clear, with a nice body, refined but determined bubbles, good dryness, Lovely acidity and a sense of great precision. The winemaker's work is nothing less than excellent and undoubtedly the star of the current tasting.

4.5/5 (excellent).

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from vineyards in the Cote du Brian appellation in Languedoc in the south of France.

12 months of aging in large oak barrels (660 liters), most of them new.

The reviewer's comment:

Cabernet Sauvignon that is all restraint and poise, without trying to put on a muscular body, the kind that Israelis love to love.

Alongside the measured body, there is plenty of fruit - black as well as red and a spicy layer.

The balanced sourness is good.

A good wine, devoid of pretentiousness, which, like most of the current tasting wines, does not try to be the main dish but sticks to its role as an accompaniment to food.

lamb chops, lamb and mutton casserole, steaks.



What the reviewer

says: Mediterranean varieties and a distinct Mediterranean style that combine into a wine with good but restrained fruit, plenty of spices, a certain fine body, blessed and a quiet elegance that makes plenty of room for food.

A red that is very suitable for the Israeli summer, which can be sipped even in the afternoon of a hot day and even cooled a bit before the ice cream.
