(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 03 - Ukrainian first lady Olena Zelenska has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Unicef for the protection and access to education of children during the war, which is having a dramatic impact on the lives of 5.7 million of school-age children.

The aim of the Memorandum is "to extend an already fruitful partnership to further protect the rights of children, improve education and provide mental health support for those affected by war".
Before the war, UNICEF had already collaborated with OlenaZelenska in a project she initiated for the reform of school pastures.
They will now join forces to protect children and young people, especially vulnerable groups across Ukraine, as violence continues to disrupt lives.
"One of the most important directions of our work is to inform people," said Olena Zelenska.
"We must continue to tell the world how war is stealing childhood from children. The world should hear about it every day and not forget."
One of the main elements of the cooperation will be the "Together for Learning" campaign, which UNICEF will launch together with the Ministry of Education and other government agencies in celebration of the First Lady's good wishes for the start of the new school year.
The campaign has several objectives including ensuring the safety of learning spaces, particularly through the construction of shelters and activities, guidelines for teachers and mine risk training.
The campaign also includes psychosocial support and the involvement of young people in projects for their development.
