The family reports.
De Santis suffering from Down syndrome,
was 50 years old.
Famous the scene, which caused much discussion to be censored in the version of the film in the United States, in which the protagonist Dante (played by Benigni) naively gave cocaine to his friend Lillo as a remedy for diabetes.
"We also received a letter of condolence from Benigni and this impressed us very much", said De Santis' family, announcing the funeral tomorrow in the church of San Frumenzio in Rome.
