Over 1,600 complaints were submitted to the Second Authority by "Big Brother" viewers alleging verbal and physical violence, cursing, boycotts and breaking objects.
In a response letter sent by the Public Complaints Ombudsman at the Authority, David Regev, and reached us, it is written as follows: "I watched the content you complained about, as mentioned, and found your request as well as the additional requests justified.
The program 'Big Brother' is a reality program and each participant brings their lifestyles, opinions and attitudes to the program.
The participants in the program live in the same house with many restrictions, and a dynamic is created between them that often leads to conflicts.
Sherin and Diane in the "Big Brother" house,
"The viewers of the program choose who they think deserves to stay in the house and who will be evicted due to their behavior and actions. At the end of the day, the program is a social game and every participant wants to win, so he uses one or another tactics. Is there any room for violent behavior on the part of the tenants as has happened recently in this game? In my opinion No.
"The freedom of expression taken by each of the participants does not mean the freedom to engage in verbal and physical violence. Freedom of expression means the freedom to express a position, but at the same time to accept or reject the positions of the other without humiliating, humiliating or harming him verbally or physically. There was no place for these incidents of violence.
Although the program 'Big Brother' is classified as 8+, which means that the content may contain crude language and/or violent content, the program is watched by many teenagers who are in the middle of the summer vacation.
"The broadcaster should take this into account and convey to the tenants a message that seeks to respect each other as well as the many viewers. In cases where verbal or physical violence occurs, I believe that the broadcaster should intervene decisively and stop it immediately."
