Production of White Chocolate Pistachio Crunch Snowflakes at the Nestlé factory (PR)

You will have to believe us when we say that this is not an easy job, not easy at all.

To try all the new products that come out to the Israeli market (and sometimes outside of it as well), to taste in front of everyone, deliveries and more deliveries, paper bags that accumulate in the office (and at home), an endless feeling of satiety.

Seriously, it's harder than it looks, and no one is paying you to go to the gym, or compensating you for the rapidly developing sense of FOMO in your mind.

For all the articles in the "New on the Shelf"

section, however, the "New on the Shelf" section, about its tasters, curious and loyal consumers, has started again.

And this time - magic spread, magic flour, magic cocktail and one borax that is completely magic.

Yes, we are very eclectic.

enjoy your meal!

Prepared food, Picks

The intriguing venture that brings together a successful idea, a double-digit amount of Tel Aviv restaurants and the back (and the refrigerators) of the AM:PM chain started its journey with quite a few encouraging promises.

Businessmen Nadav Naaman and Tomer Goldberg founded Picks to strongly shake up the ready-made food market in Israel, which suffers from a mediocre level on a regular basis, and less than that on other days.

They teamed up with many delicious places in the city, let chef Barak Aharoni lead, and in return received refrigerators full of the large retail chain.

Here you can find, among other things, salmon mousse from "Manta Ray" (27 NIS), pasta bolognese from "Amora Mio" (39 NIS), cauliflower fritters from "The Streets" (36 NIS) and orange vegetable curry from "Bana" ( NIS 32) - they are all chilled and waiting to be quickly heated in the microwave, or slightly less quickly heated in the oven.

We tried a decent chopped liver from "Havat Tzuk" (26 NIS), a slightly less successful aho blanco spread from "Ozria" (26 NIS) and also her "Risotto Friki Galili" (25 NIS), which immediately corrected the impression.

For mains, we warmed up a generous and satisfying salmon dish of "Manta Ray" (NIS 49), with rice noodles and green beans, Pad Ka Pao with Thai rice (NIS 44) of "The Thai in Mount Sinai" which did not rise to the level of the restaurant but did close the lunch area effectively, And also meatballs in sauce (NIS 34) from "Dalida", which gave great value for their mani.

The point of this story is to create a normative coordination of expectations, on both sides - the outer shell is nicely branded and the statements boast "restaurant food" (and another restaurant you know), but the inside quickly sends to design associations of airplane food (not to mention the impossible-to-peel nylon).

On the other hand, the dishes are not restaurant-style, of course, but they do provide food available, which can organize a complete meal for you at a definitely accessible price, and at a good enough level that you won't be tempted again by the nonsense thrown at you in the work kitchen.

In two words: a good start.

The vegan series, Naturala

Naturala's vegan series (Photo: Naturala)

Italiano Holdings launches Naturala, a private brand that focuses on products with health, vegan, organic and gluten-free appeal.

The vegan collection that landed at our door included a pie filled with soy, a "Moshe in a box" pastry with carrot sausages, and a borax-like filo pastry - all in freezer-friendly, oven-ready plastic boxes.

Price: NIS 19.90-39.90.

We admit that we approached this tasting test a little skeptical, experienced and scarred by a lot of substitute products that tried to imitate a carnivore or cheesy eating experience.

Those bursts of doubt began to evaporate during heating - and the spread of a really nice smell - and disappeared completely with the first bite, and the second, and the third.

The "Moses in a box" pastry was delicious, and the vegan sausage that stood in the center did not feel like a constraint.

The soy pie continued the trend, with a successful dough for its kind, and a well-seasoned filling reminiscent of shawarma, but this display of purpose was stolen by the Bourkes, who brought down all the system's hungry in their network, with a good shell and "cheese" that came very close to what you've gotten used to eating all these years.

In two words: no compromises.

Peanut Butter Wacker

The Italian brand from Layman Schlissel launches a new series of products, based on the much-requested combination of chocolate and peanut butter.

For now, there are four products - Quadratini (NIS 15.90 for 250 grams), Tortina (NIS 17.90 for 126 grams), Gardena (NIS 15.90 for 200 grams) and Loaker Classic (NIS 12.90 for 175 grams).

Among them, they got to taste the Gardena - a chocolate covered waffle that provided a welcome moment of disconnection next to the coffee, and the Tortina - a disk full of sweet corruption in a personalized package, which managed to do much more than disconnect.

In two words: it's good that you came.

Jean, Parson

AGTD is a member of the popular gin brand, and is landing four first pioneers from Slovenia in Israel - Klassi, Sunny, Enavim and Cozy.

Price: NIS 179.90.

The gin, produced by Spirits of the Alps, enjoys an elegant and attractive design.

The classic version, enhanced with a light citrus aroma, quickly paired with a Negroni cocktail and perfectly muted an afternoon that was a little too loud.

The second bottle sent for tasting promised Cozy and refined oranges-apples-cinnamon.

The taste did live up to it, also as an interesting whip, but especially as an extra kick to a summer cocktail saturated with tonic and fruit.

In one word: Cheers!

Tequila Patron Plume cocktail

The top-shelf tequila brand felt the rising temperatures, surveyed its surroundings and decided there wasn't enough - or any - fluff here.

The result is a rolling, multi-location festival event that celebrates this rather perfect summer cocktail (dove in Spanish) and brings together in the first two weeks of August restaurants and bars with a similar tequila passion for the classic, and for variations on the classic.

The event will be attended by, among others, Imperial, Bichicalta and La Otra (with "Pluma Slashy" - Patron Silver tequila, lime, yuzu, grapefruit, papaya, cinnamon, halfanio and oregano, NIS 58) The Tel-Avivites, Tiphamra from Giva'tait Limousin (with a penny De La Plume - tequila Patron Silver, passion fruit, grapefruit syrup, Martini Piero, lemon juice and tonic water, NIS 48) at Ramat Yishai, Vesper and the new bear in Haifa, and also Zota and Jacko Street (with Spicy Pluma - tequila Patron Silver, fresh lemon, Tonic water, red grapefruit, bergamot, salt and chili oil, NIS 58) in Jerusalem.

The activity will simultaneously launch the Perfectionists PATRÓN competition, which culminates in a battle of global bartenders in Jalisco, Mexico, but you can settle for the home classic - tequila-soda-grapefruit-lime-salt - and create a sour-bitter-kicking breeze in a tall glass.

In two words: a bag of wings.

Spelled yeast flour, sifted

The "Magic" series of the local legume giant expands with multi-purpose spelled yeast flour.

The statements - and the packaging itself - promise to "just add water" on the way to fast and convenient products from the oven, and the receipts fulfilled the big words, and provided the desired shortcut.

The dough rose excellently, allowed for comfortable work in terms of texture and feel, and in the end produced an excellent smell around the house, and an equally excellent mold of spelled buns.

In one word: magic.

Vegan spread, Helmans

The popular spread brand adds a vegan friend to its shelves (although the note on the container warns that it may contain eggs).

The spread itself, without food coloring, provides a creamy and very rich experience, very similar to regular mayonnaise in taste and texture, and definitely satisfactory as a substitute for sandwiches.

In two words: does not smell.
