On
the waste plan
in
Rome
, presented today, "we will give the deadline for observations, from August 12 to September 30. From September 30 to October 15, there will be the phase of reviewing the observations. The final plan
will
then be
approved
with the ordinance of extraordinary commissioner,
on October 15.
The tender procedures will be published at the same time, for the expressions of interest of those who want to apply to build the plants ".
This was stated by the mayor of Rome,
Roberto Gualtieri
, presenting, as extraordinary government commissioner, the waste plan for the capital, in the Sala delle Bandiere in
Campidoglio

Waste, Gualtieri: 'The final go-ahead for the Rome plan on October 15th'
With the waste plan "Rome will stop having to burden other territories for waste management but will not import waste from other cities", said the mayor of Rome.
"The powers of the commissioner concern Rome Capital - he reiterated - Rome will no longer have to burden the province but neither will it put itself in the position of having to import the waste of the province. Rome will cease to have to burden other territories. For that there are the plants of the Province and the Region ".
As regards the plant engineering part, the waste plan of Rome "is based on
five main structures
:
two anaerobic
biodigestion
plants
for organic production of 100 thousand tons per year; two plants for the selection of dry fractions, paper and plastic, of 100 thousand tons each; a
waste
-to-energy plant "where the undifferentiated waste will go" that will not require a passage in the pre-treatment plants, in Tmb, of 600 thousand tons per year, and will use the most advanced technologies for the reduction and control of emissions but also for the recycling of ashes ", added Gualtieri, who specified:"
38%
of Rome's waste
goes to energy enhancement
,
in waste-to-energy plants
.
Not a very low share, with costs and emissions problems linked to transport ".
On
separate collection
, Rome is "at
45.2
, a figure much lower than the
national average of 61.3
. We are inefficient in intercepting plastic, glass, ferrous and organic materials".
This was stated by the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, presenting, as extraordinary government commissioner, the waste plan for Rome in the Sala delle Bandiere in Campidoglio.
