Due to Corona, the show had to move for two years. Now RTL wants the "jungle camp" to bring its stars back to Australia. It will be a premiere for moderator Jan Köppen.

Two years ago, the jungle camp participants had to stay in a studio near Cologne instead of in the jungle due to the corona.

In 2021 the show took place – after all – in South Africa.

As the broadcaster announced in a message, it should now go back to Australia: “The fight for the jungle crown would take place Down Under again in 2023”.

At the beginning of 2022, stricter entry restrictions were still in force in Australia due to the corona pandemic.

As a result, the 15th season of »I'm a Celebrity – Get Me Out of Here!« could not be filmed in Australia and came to South Africa for the first time.

At the beginning of 2021, the camp even had to move to Germany in a shrinked version.

The restrictions have now been relaxed.

In season 16, Jan Köppen will lead the show alongside Sonja Zietlow for the first time.

Former moderator Daniel Hartwich had announced that he would stop after nine years in the jungle camp: he wanted to take care of his family more.

Successor Köppen has already moderated several episodes of "Let's Dance", as well as the game show "Ninja Warrior" and the RTL tower jumping.
