This changes nothing for you.

Replacing pasta with vegetables is trendy, and not just among low-carb fans.

Especially in summer, delicious but also somewhat heavy pasta dishes quickly become a light treat.

Noodles are now made from many different types of vegetables, but it all started with zoodles - a neologism of zucchini and noodles, the English word for noodles.

Thanks to the low taste of zucchini, zucchini spaghetti goes well with many different dishes and can replace the pasta in whole or in part.

But how do you actually make noodles out of zucchini?

The easiest way to make zoodles is with a so-called spiral cutter (promotional link).

You simply turn the vegetables through this and beautiful zucchini spaghetti come out on the other side.

The purchase is worthwhile, especially if you want to make Zoodles often.

But if you want to try the trend, or just want to make vegetable noodles occasionally, then you can easily make zucchini spaghetti without a spiralizer and it's not that difficult.

You don't need any special kitchen equipment for such zucchini spaghetti or zoodles.

Simply make zucchini spaghetti without a spiral cutter: That's how it works

  • with julienne cutter:

For small quantities, i.e. if you only want to replace a few spaghetti with zoodles or for trying out for up to 2 people, a simple hand peeler, more precisely a julienne cutter (promotional link) is sufficient.

This works like a vegetable peeler, but has fine teeth that cut thin julienne strips out of the vegetables.

  • with Zester:

If you don't have a julienne cutter in the kitchen drawer, you can also use a zoodle to cut zucchini into zoodles.

It is actually intended for cutting zest from citrus peel.

But since the zucchini is soft, it works here too.

Unfortunately, the zester (promotional link) fails on hard vegetables.

  • with peeler:

A peeler can be found in most kitchens and you can also use it to make Zoodles.

For the least amount of work, cut the zucchini three times lengthwise, but without cutting through the skin on the underside.

Now you can use the vegetable peeler to slice off wide zucchini tagliatelle.

The narrower and more often you cut the zucchini lengthways, the thinner the zoodles will be.

With this method you can quickly cut tagliatelle from zucchini.

  • with the knife:

you can also make zucchini spaghetti with a sharp knife and a little patience.

To do this, slice the zucchini as thinly as possible.

Then lay them flat on a board and use your knife to cut thin zoodles out of them.

This method is more suitable for small quantities.

The zoodles are ready, but beware: the zucchini spaghetti are not simply boiled in salted water, but like this:

How to properly prepare Zoodles

  • First wash the zucchini thoroughly and remove the roots.

Cut the zucchini spaghetti using whichever method you chose.

  • Heat some fat, butter or oil in a pan and sauté the zoodles over medium heat.

  • After about 3 to 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the noodles, and after careful stirring and turning several times, the zucchini noodles are ready.

  • Now all you have to do is season the zoodles with salt and, if you like, some pepper.

  • The zucchini spaghetti goes well with many different pasta sauces, whether tomato sauce (this recipe is world famous and simple) or cream sauces.

You can also use zoodles in zucchini salad.

Now you can just try it out without having to buy a spiral cutter.
