A train accident occurred in North Rhine-Westphalia at night.
When shunting at a container terminal on a company site in Herne, a train ran into stationary goods wagons, said a Bochum police spokesman.
As a result of the impact, numerous wagons were tipped off the tracks.
The train driver was able to jump off his locomotive in time so that nobody was injured.
There were no dangerous goods in the wagons.
The cause of the accident is still unclear.
The police spokesman said there was probably "immense damage to property".
