Seventy-five thousand rubber ducks are "released" into the Chicago River during the Chicago Ducky Derby, a charity event designed to raise funds for the Illinois Special Olympics.
The individual ducks, which are
adopted by supporters for $ 5 each
, are engaged in a real speed race, dragged by the current to a nearby place where the finish line has been connected, with prizes and money awarded to the owners of the winning ducks.
