Omar Sy continues his conquest of Hollywood and this time, no question of supporting roles.
He joins the cast of
The Killer,
a remake of John Woo's film, which is back behind the camera for this adaptation.
The film, cult for its action scenes, tells the story of Ah Jong, a disillusioned assassin who accidentally hurts the eyes of a singer and decides to carry out a last blow to raise money for an operation which will prevent the young girl from going blind.
Omar Sy, hero of the
Lupine
series which reinforced international stature, will take on the main role of the film, Universal Pictures announced.
The actor seen in several American blockbusters since Untouchables (2011)

A film, pillar of the genre
The film had a moderate success when it was released in 1989 in Hong Kong, it owes its posterity to Western critics who had praised its action scenes.
It has since served as a reference for many directors including Bradon Lee and Quentin Tarantino who in
Jackie Brown (1997)
was inspired by
The Killer
to the point of including several references in the dialogues.
The Killer
is part of a list of three films ordered from John Woo by Universal to be released on its Peacock streaming platform.
