Lose weight in line with the Bible: The Jesus or Hallelujah diet is intended to improve health and allow you to lose weight in a healthy way.
The book "What Would Jesus Eat?" by the American doctor Dr.
Don Colbert advertises with the slogan "The Ultimate Program for Eating Well, Feeling Great, and Living Longer
"
.
Colbert combines nutrition and theology in his diet book and primarily wants to show what health benefits Jesus' diet can have for each individual.
Spiritual mumbo jumbo or serious weight loss concept?
Nutrition experts from the German Society for Nutrition (DGE) classify the Hallelujah diet as a
detoxification
diet - and take a clear position with regard to its benefits.
Lots of fruit and vegetables and no processed foods: The Jesus diet shows many parallels to the Mediterranean diet.

The Hallelujah Diet: Losing Weight Like Jesus?
The book author and physician Dr.
According to Colbert, before every meal, one should ask oneself:
Would Jesus eat this?
Colbert promises that anyone who asks this question will lose weight and cleanse themselves mentally and spiritually, as read on
Spiegel.de
.
The pious diet includes bread, grilled fish, raw vegetables, grains and nuts, fresh fruit, plus red wine and water.
Colbert and colleagues advise against pigs, rabbits and sea creatures, Der Spiegel continues.
Processed foods such as ready-made pizza are taboo.
In addition, according to Don Colbert, the following rules
should be followed during the Hallelujah diet
, as reported by the
doctoroz.com
portal :
Break your fast every morning
twelve hours after your last meal the previous day
.
So if you ate dinner at 6:00 p.m., you shouldn't eat again until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.
Make lunch the most important meal
and most importantly: enjoy it slowly and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Eat a light dinner at 4 p.m.: Your digestive system shouldn't have to be working overtime when you're supposed to be sleeping.
So eat as early in the evening as possible.
According to the physician Colbert, wine was a natural part of the daily diet in Jesus' day.
The alcoholic drink is therefore also permitted during the Jesus Diet
.
However, new findings suggest that it is best to avoid alcohol altogether.
According to World Health Information: "Some people will not like to hear it, but there is no safe level of alcohol consumption."

Hallelujah diet carries the risk of the yo-yo effect
The German Society for Nutrition (DGE) has taken a closer look at the Jesus diet.
The Institute classifies the Hallelujah Diet as a modification of the raw food detox diet.
According to the DGE, the following criteria indicate that it is a hallelujah diet
: 85 percent raw food and 15 percent cooked food are eaten, the latter only in the evening;
there is no breakfast, instead there are special vegetable juices;
Drinking water should be distilled, and various dietary supplements are recommended.

According to this definition, the Jesus diet is one of the detoxification or detox diets for which there is no scientific evidence to date.
The extent to which the metabolism is stimulated by such a diet is questionable.
The DGE attributes the rapid weight loss primarily to saving calories during the diet.
A long-term success in losing weight is rather unlikely with such weight loss concepts because the basal metabolic rate is reduced by fasting
.
As a result, there is often a yo-yo effect: after the diet, the scale shows the same number of kilos as before – or even more.
24vita.de* reveals how long you can do without solid food during fasting.
However, there are also aspects that speak in favor of the Hallelujah diet: It is based on the
Mediterranean diet
, which is considered healthy , and bans processed, usually very sugary and salty ready meals from the menu.
