It's an apocalyptic scene.
In a video broadcast by the rescue teams, we can see the establishment in flames from which people come out, sometimes on fire, trying to escape.
On the night of Thursday to Friday, around one o'clock in the morning, a fire broke out in the "Mountain B" nightclub in Sattahip, Thailand, a city south of the very touristy Pattaya.
The latest report shows 13 dead (four women and nine men) and 41 injured, including 14 seriously.
"There are no foreign victims," said a police official from Phlu Ta Luang sub-district.
Significant resources had to be deployed to contain the fire.
No less than 20 fire engines were dispatched to the scene.
Rescuers took 3 hours to bring the fire under control.
Among the victims, Chatchai Chuenkha, a local singer who was performing in the nightclub at the time of the tragedy.
According to witnesses, the fire started from DJ's table.
The main victims were also concentrated around this point.
Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda said "Mountain B" was operating as an "unlicensed" entertainment venue.
Accidents of this type are frequent in Thailand where safety standards are rarely respected.
In 2009, a fire in a Bangkok nightclub killed 67 people.
In 2012, in Phukhet, 4 people were also killed in the fire of a nightclub.
