(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 05 - The White House has summoned the Chinese ambassador to condemn the escalation of Beijing's actions against Taiwan and reiterate that the United States does not want a crisis in the region, after a visit to the island of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has intensified tensions in the Taiwan Strait this week.
"After China's actions overnight, we summoned Ambassador [of the People's Republic of China] QinGang to the White House to talk to him about the PRC's provocative actions," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said in a statement provided to the Washington Post.
