The young woman who showers once every ten days (aydanjane)

Showering is an important part of maintaining personal hygiene, with most of us showering at least once a day if not twice (and in the summer even 3).

Sometimes it happens that you miss a day of showering, especially if you don't leave the house - but a TikTok user named Aidan Jane claims that giving up showering should be done more often.

More precisely, she says that she only showers once every ten days - and despite that, she doesn't smell bad or look dirty.

Aidan, one of the leaders of the "no showering" movement, claims that not only is a daily shower not necessary, it is also an expensive waste of water and damage to our planet.

In one of her videos that gained about 3 million views, the 23-year-old wrote: "I'm the living proof that you don't need to shower often to look and feel good."

Over the course of several videos, she tried to explain her position on the matter, claiming that the lack of showers doesn't affect her smell, her appearance or the condition of her hair - although she agreed that her hair would probably be curlier if she washed it more often.

She added: "I claim that it is better for the environment if we pollute less because water is a precious resource."

When asked if she would avoid showering even during menstruation, she stated: "Your period does not make you dirty. Menstruation is not a dirty thing. Also, it is important to note that the vagina cleans itself, so you do not need to clean it - because it cleans itself."

Not surprisingly, many were shocked by her bathing habits: "You probably don't have to, but it seems to me that you could increase the frequency of your shower a little. It will be better for your hygiene, I'm pretty sure."

Another wrote: "I don't agree with you. I don't shower only when I'm depressed and unmotivated."

Another wrote: "We are in summer now! Really, really not."

There were also those who congratulated her: "This video made me very happy. I don't understand why people are so angry with you," wrote another, and another added: "Ten days is not that long," to which Aidan responded with the words: "I completely agree."

Is it healthy to skip a shower?

The lack of a daily shower has been embraced by a number of Hollywood stars, with celebrities like Jake Gyllenhaal, Matthew McConaughey and Cameron Diaz sharing last year that they don't shower every day.

Although Dr. Julie Rusk, a private dermatologist in Manhattan, previously told The Post that there's no harm in leaving a day or two between showers, she added that not showering can actually harm the skin. "You still have to think about all the germs. And the toxins that accumulate on your skin," said Rusk, "When the body sweats, it's its natural way to remove toxins.

You don't want to leave them on your skin for too long.

This will encourage pimples, folliculitis (bacterial infection of the hair follicles) and other skin infections."

Rusk added that regular physical activity must be accompanied by a quick shower, although the duty is "only on areas where there is a higher concentration of sweat accumulation."

She explained that the bacteria that cause body odor appear alongside those that can cause infections.

She concluded: "When you smell bad, it means it's time to take a shower."

Or to summarize what she says in spoken Hebrew - she recommends a slotted shower.

So it's true, Aidan probably won't be able to convince you to give up the daily shower, but it wouldn't hurt for all of us to be a little more aware of the daily amount of water we waste and the effect it has on the planet.
