At least 11 people died in a serious bus accident in Croatia.
34 other people suffered serious injuries, Croatian television reported, citing police and rescue workers.
The bus had come from Poland.
The accident happened on Saturday morning at 5.40 a.m. local time on a highway 60 kilometers northwest of Zagreb.
The expressway is busy during the current holiday season.
The bus was coming from the Hungarian border towards Zagreb.
The cause was initially unknown.
Authorities assumed the driver had fallen asleep behind the wheel, the TV report said.
Polish embassy representatives drive to the scene of the accident
The spokesman for the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Polish television that there was not much information.
Representatives of the embassy are on their way to the scene of the accident.
Croatia's Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister would also travel there.
Millions of foreign tourists vacation in Croatia in summer, especially on the Adriatic coast.
From January to July, more than 580,000 Polish tourists traveled to the country.
In July last year, ten vacationers from Kosovo died in a bus accident in Croatia.
