Bad news for latecomers who have not yet decided where to spend their summer holidays and are currently preparing to buy a plane ticket to reach a foreign capital or a foreign tourist destination.

Flight fares have in fact reached record levels, as confirmed by Istat which recorded a 160.2% increase in international air tickets in July.

Assoutenti, an association that has compared the rates charged by airlines for some European and international destinations, takes into account the "expensive flight".

It turns out that those who want to go to China starting from Rome and landing in Beijing must face a cost of almost 3,400 euros (one way and 3 stopovers), which reaches over 10 thousand euros if you choose the fastest connection.

For Sidney tickets start from 1,594 euros embarking at Fiumicino (always one way), 1,582 from Milan.

To go to Singapore it takes about 1,200 euros from both cities, 950 euros for Tokyo.

Flying to Jakarta is cheaper if you start from Milan (685 euros against the 1,341 of Rome), as well as New York (tickets from 1,243 euros from Fiumicino, 915 euros from Malpensa), while the situation is reversed if the destination is the City of Mexico: 1,184 from the capital, 1,263 euros from Milan.

Assoutenti then hypothesized a return flight departing August 19 (in the morning) and returning on August 22 (in the evening) for European destinations and foreign tourist destinations: it emerges that to spend a few days in the splendid Greek island of Mykonos, 395 euro for the flight from Milan, 292 euro for the one from Rome (but in the latter case, to save money, you have to leave at 1:35 am).

It is worse if you choose Tenerife: the plane ticket costs 520 euros from Rome, 441 euros flying from Milan.

Also expensive to go to London (419 euros the Fiumicino-Heathrow route) while those who want to spend a few days in romantic Paris (landing at Charles de Gaulle airport) spend 314 euros starting from Rome,

but only 113 if you board in Milan (but in this case you leave from Linate and return to Malpensa).

Prices that, explains Assoutenti, do not take into account the extra costs (hand luggage, choice of seat, travel insurance, etc.), taxes that can greatly increase the final bill for the purchase of a ticket.

"Air transport is rapidly turning into a luxury for the rich - warns the president of Assoutenti, Furio Truzzi - The increase in energy costs and the increase in fuel prices have been entirely passed on to final consumers through an abnormal increase in tickets. , increased by 160% in July compared to 2021. And the situation is unfortunately destined to worsen: the cut in flights operated by airlines due to the shortage of staff leads to a generalized reduction of connections, with direct negative consequences on seat fares still available and on users' pockets ", concludes Truzzi ..
