(ANSA) - ROME, AUGUST 06 - On the bridge of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome there is a young refugee sleeping in the street.
It is the new work, a life-size marble sculpture, that the famous street artist Jago installed this night.
It is called In Flagella Paratus Sum - I am ready for the scourge.
The sculpture after a month at sea and after being placed at the center of the Olympic Stadium as if for a hug, continues its journey on the pavement of the bridge between the gazes of Bernini's santilapidei and from today on the hundreds of tourists who pass through.
The scenographic place is not accidental: the young refugee homeless and looking for the future is at the crossroads between the Basilic of San Pietro and the ancient prison of Castel Sant'Angelo.
The work will be sold at auction and all the proceeds will be donated to an association that helps refugees.
And it has an auction base of 1,250 million euros.
Jacopo Cardillo aka Jago, born in Frosinone 35 years ago, is now a renowned sculptor: just a month ago the first major exhibition dedicated to the artist, discovered by the art historian Maria Teresa Benedetti and who participated in the Venice Biennale at the age of 24, selected by Vittorio Sgarbi.
